DOVER, Del. – Wesley College's women's basketball team dropped its Capital Athletic Conference opener to York (Pa.), 79-48, on Sunday afternoon at Wentworth Gymnasium. The Wolverines fall to 0-4 on the season while Spartans improve to 6-0.
Brionna Johnson scored a team-high 14 points and pulled down ten rebounds for a double-double but a very aggressive York defense held Johnson to just 2-of-16 shooting. Monique Miller and Roniece Williams tallied 11 points apiece for Wesley while Williams finished a rebound shy of a double-double while dishing out four assists.
Kristen Haley and Brittany Hicks combined for 29 points and 17 rebounds to lead York, who outshot the Wolverines 44.4% to 23.8%.
The Wolverines return to action on December 4 when they travel to Marymount (Va.) for a 6 pm CAC tipoff.
