NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Wesley College men's track and field team earned second place at the two-day Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) Indoor Track and Field Championships, held at Christopher Newport University.
The second day was highlighted by Thomas Kalieta Jr. winning the 200- and 400-meter dashes. Kalieta won the 200 with a time of 22.21 seconds. and followed up with a 400 win, crossing the line in 49.63 seconds. Kalieta was joined by Tysean Cousar, Ja'mier Bailey and Jordan Dillard to place second in the 4x400-meter relay, finishing in 3:27.57.
Christian Saulsbury picked up a win in the 60-meter dash, narrowly defeating Jose Mundo of Mary Washington. Both runners crossed the finish line in 6.97 seconds but Saulsbury won by fractions of a second.
Tre' Johnson won the triple jump with a mark of 13.85 meters (45-5.25). Daqauy Harris-Winbush collected first-place honors in the long jump yesterday with a leap of 6.99 meters (22-11.25).
Camal Brown placed fourth in the shot put with a throw of 14.19 meters (46-6.75).
As a team, Wesley notched 102 points, the most in team history at the indoor conference championships. Christopher Newport won the men's team conference title with 198 points.
The Wolverines will gear up for the NCAA Indoor Track and Field National Championships in March by participating in the George Mason Last Chance Meet on Sunday, Feb. 25.
