How it happened

The Wesley College Men's soccer team shut out the Bryn Athyn Lions 6-0 Tuesday night September 24th at Drass Field.

Stellar defense by the Wolverines and the Lions kept both teams locked at zero going into the half. However, shortly into the second half Wesley's offensive efforts paid off. Just over five minutes in, a perfectly passed ball by Kaiden Fields allowed Joseph Esubalew to drill the first goal past the keeper giving the Wolverines the 1-0 lead.

The men continued to pressure the Lions and at the 54th minute, were able to tally a second goal. A well-placed pass by Christian Chavez found the head of Kaiden Fields which pushed the ball out of reach of the Lions goalie making the score 2-0.

The Wolverines did not finish scoring there. Darius David Robinson joined in on the offensive dominance (assisted by Chavez), Dylan Chi scored off a penalty kick, Kieran Sundermann tallied goal number five and Robert Evans completed the scoring for the Wovlerines.

Midfield and defense performed well for the Wolverines through both halves allowing the squad to secure the win.

Comments from the Coach

"We were fairly pleased with the first half to be honest sometimes you just have to have some patience. We have much more depth this year and I think that is what paid off for us in the end. Great efforts by Bryn Athyn but once you get that first goal then it just lifts your team up all together". Coach Clark
