PRINCETON, N.J. – Rising junior running back E.J. Lee, head coach Chip Knapp, the family of late head coach Mike Drass, Interim Athletic Director Tracey Short and Wesley College President Robert Clark II were on hand to collect the awards from the 2017 football season at the annual New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Awards Brunch on Sunday, held at the Hyatt Regency in Princeton, N.J.
Lee was named the NJAC Offensive Player of the Year after leading the NJAC in rushing, rushing touchdowns, scoring and all-purpose yards. Lee ran for 1,582 yards with 22 touchdowns and caught 26 passes for 252 yards and two receiving touchdowns. He ranked fifth in Division III in rushing touchdowns and seventh in rushing yards.
Knapp picked up Wesley's team trophy for their third consecutive NJAC Championship. Wesley has won at least a share of the NJAC Championship in each of their three years in the NJAC.
Coach Drass' wife Laurie and daughter Molly accepted the Coach of the Year award for the 2017 season to a standing ovation from the crowd. The Wolverines won 10 games in 2017 and qualified for their 13th consecutive NCAA Championship Tournament.
