Volleyball cruises to three-set sweep over Gwynedd Mercy to open AEC play

GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. – The Wesley College women's volleyball team opened Atlantic East Conference (AEC) play with a three-set sweep (25-19, 25-17, 25-17) over the Gwynedd Mercy Griffins on Tuesday.

Lindsay Burg recorded her eighth double-double of the season with a 23-assist, 11-dig effort in the win. Burg also dropped in four service aces.

Nya Lightfoot and Elisa Hackendorn each led the Wesley offense with double-digit kills. Lightfoot notched 11 kills on 24 attempts while Hackendorn registered 10 kills on 26 attacks.

Regan Healey, Mary Getty and Micah Wright blocked two Gwynedd Mercy attacks apiece. Getty put down nine kills while Healey dug out 12 attacks and tallied seven kills.

Caelli Clifford totaled 16 digs and a pair of service aces. Teaghen Vogelsang handed out 11 assists while Jenna Burchfield collected six digs with three service aces.

As a team, Wesley had a hitting percentage of .271.

Wesley (9-11, 1-0 AEC) will step out of conference play on Thursday at 6 p.m. when they host the Centenary (N.J.) Cyclones/
