Volleyball splits tri-match with Cairn, Hood

DOVER, Del. – The Wesley College volleyball team split two matches at their tri-match on Saturday with the Cairn Highlanders and the Hood Blazers.

Wesley swept Cairn in three sets, 25-21, 25-17, 25-15, to open the tri-match.

Regan Healey led Wesley with 12 kills and 11 digs. Healey also blocked two attacks. Lindsay Burg also recorded a double-double with 20 assists and 12 digs. Burg added three kills and an assist.

Mary Getty and Elisa Hackendorn each tallied seven kills while Nya Lightfoot returned to action for Wesley to register six kills. Hackendorn dug out nine attacks while Getty and Lightfoot each notched two block assists.

Micah Wright put down five kills from the middle hitter position. Caelli Clifford had 13 digs and four service aces. Teaghen Vogelsang dished out 10 assists.

Lyntia Gwess and Haley Sheehan each had nine kills for Cairn.

Wesley was able to pick up a win in the first set against Hood but Hood was able to win three straight sets to win in four sets, 15-25, 25-21, 25-23, 25-17.

Burg was able to collect another double-double in the tri-match finale with 18 assists and 13 digs. It was Burg's seventh double-double of the year and third straight game with a double-double.

Healey was a dig away from a double-double with 11 kills and nine digs. Hackendorn and Wright each tallied seven kills.

On defense, Clifford dug out 31 attacks. Kaya Ziskay chipped in with 13 digs while Teaghen Vogelsang assisted 12 attacks.

The Wolverines will be on the road on Tuesday when they take on the Bryn Athyn Lions. The match is set for 7 p.m.
