Ax Named Capital One Academic All-American

TOWSON, Md. - Junior volleyball player Carle Ax (Lewiston, Idaho /Lewiston H.S.) has been named to the Capital One 2011 Academic All-America Division III Volleyball Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). A second-team honoree, Ax is the first-ever player from Wesley College to be named an Academic All-American by CoSIDA.

Ax put together her finest season as a Wolverine this year, leading the squad with a .298 hitting percentage, 65 service aces and 212 digs, all while posting a perfect 4.0 grade-point-average in Mathematics. 

"Carle is such an outstanding person that there are no words to describe her," said head coach Juli Greep. "She is a great leader on and off the court, tutors kids all over campus and is a great example for our student-athletes and recruits."

Graduating after just three years in Dover, Ax has tallied 495 kills, 885 assists, 165 aces, 576 digs and 153 blocks in her career.

To be eligible for Academic All-America consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain at least a 3.30 GPA, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing and be nominated by his/her sports information director.
