Track and field competes at Navy’s Wesley Brown Invitational

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Wesley College men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Wesley Brown Invitational on Saturday, hosted by the United States Naval Academy.

The men tallied 15 top-10 finishes at Navy. Thomas Kalieta Jr. led the men on the track with a third-place finish in the 400 meters with a time of 49.95 seconds. Kalieta also teamed up with TySean Cousar, Ja'mier Bailey and Jordan Dillard to place third in the 4x400-meter relay (3:23.90). Bailey placed sixth in the 800 (2:06.83) while Cousar was ninth in the 200-meters with a time of 22.62 seconds.

Tre' Johnson tallied two top-fives in the jumps. Johnson earned third in the triple jump (13.79m, 45-3) and fourth in the long jump with a leap of 6.36 meters (20-10.5). Myles Toppin and O'Ryan Turner were right behind Johnson in the long and triple jumps respectively. Toppin collected fifth in the long jump (6.35m, 20-10) while Turner placed sixth in the triple jump (12.53m, 41-1.5). Turner and Justin Cowgill placed 5-6 in the high jump. Turner registered a mark of 1.89 meters (6-2.25) while Cowgill cleared 1.79 meters (5-10.5).

Roland Attoh-Okine collected fifth place in the 60-meter hurdles, crossing the line in 8.50 seconds. Anthony Anastasi notched sixth in the mile run (4:41.93). Johnny Crenshaw placed eighth in the 200 (22.59) while Luis Arteaga also finished eighth in the 800-meter run (2:18.43).

In the 60-meter finals, Wesley placed three in the top-10. Christian Saulsbury finished eighth (7.09), Enoch Owumi placed ninth (7.11) and Aaron Gaither crossed the line in 10th place (7.15).

On the women's side, Wesley totaled eight top-10's at the meet. Evelina Sloboh and Jourdyn Beverly each registered a pair of top 10 finishes. Sloboh was seventh in the 60 meters (7.89) and 10th in the long jump (4.82m, 15-9.75).  Beverly finished ninth in both the shot put (11.12m, 36-5.75) and weight throw (13.98m, 45-10.5).

Ashley Morris collected fourth place (9.21) and Shaniel Thomas placed 10th (10.04) in the 60-meter hurdles. Maysha Foster tallied a sixth-place finish in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.89 seconds.

Lekeshia Brown-Myrick notched eighth place in the triple jump with a leap of 10.53 meters (34-8.75).

The Wolverines will be back on the track next weekend for the two-day University of Maryland, Eastern Shore Invitational.
