Smith Wins Triple Jump With School Record
READING, Pa. - Arvantis Smith took home a gold medal in the triple jump in record-setting fashion Saturday afternoon at the Albright College Invitational.
In the Wolverines' final tuneup before the inaugural Capital Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships, Smith won the triple jump with a 34-1.25" effort. The mark bested her own school-record that she set last season at Maryland-Eastern Shore by over a foot and a half. Smith also took the silver in the high jump (4'7) and bronze in the long jump (14-8.75").
Sharis Allen also medaled with a 10.17 third-place finish in the 55m hurdles. Her time of 9.42 in the prelims gave her the top seed going into the finals. Allen also finished fourth in the long jump at 14-7" while Kristen Bradley took seventh in 13-5".
Wesley's 4x400 relay team of Twila McCrae, Stevie Carpenter, Sherleen Sabin and Tristin Burris captured the silver in 4:44.80. Burris also took fourth in the Mile (5:50.24) while Carpenter and McCrae took fifth and sixth, respectively in the 400m in times of 1:07.59 and 1:08.58.
