DOVER, Del. – For the second-straight game, the Wesley College women's lacrosse team set a new scoring record with a 26-17 win on Saturday over the Gwynedd Mercy Griffins.
Wesley's 26 goals better their 25-goal performance on Feb. 24 against Cedar Crest. Wesley set a record for the most free-position goals in a game with nine, breaking the previous record of six last achieved against Marymount on March 21, 2012.
Fallon Fore notched eight goals and corralled 12 draws for the Wolverines, both one shy of tying for the most in a single game in program history. Fore also notched three ground balls, two assists and caused two turnovers.
Brianna Bacon tallied five goals while Paige Brehm scored four goals in the win. Maddison Cypher notched a hat trick for the Wolverines. Cypher and Bacon both assisted on two Wolverine goals. Brehm recorded a game-high six caused turnovers and five ground balls.
Shelby Schirmer stopped 10 shots for her second win of the season.
Victoria Braeunle scored six goals for Gwynedd Mercy.
The Wolverines (2-0) will be back in action on Wednesday when they face the Immaculata Mighty Macs for their first road action of 2018. The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start.
