HORSHAM, Pa. – Jorden Lutz scored five goals and dished one assist as the Wesley College women's lacrosse team defeated Penn State Abington,16-4, Saturday afternoon at the Hatters Stadium.
With the win, Wesley improves to 4-3 overall while the Lions fall to 0-7 on the season.
Lutz scored the first goal of the game just 37 seconds into the game off a feed from Rylee Gould. After a Lion goal, Kaylee Miller scored on a free position shot before connecting on another goal a minute later off another feed from Gould. After two Lion scores, Alexandra Barbieri, Lutz, and Kirsten Ward scored to give Wesley the 8-3 edge heading into halftime.
The Wolverines continued their stellar offensive play, outscoring the Lions 8-1 in the second half. Lutz connected for three of the second half goals.
Kaitlin Brennan, Stephanie Blakely, Jessica Giaccone and Gould added a goal each while Gould had a game-high seven assists, giving her 26 on the season. Barbieri, Ward, and Miller each snagged two goals while Lutz had a game-high five goals.
Wesley outshot the lions 31-23 on the day while picking up 41 groundballs to the Lions 12.The Wolverines caused 15 turnovers while holding a 14-8 advantage in draw controls. Giaccone had four caused turnovers.
Katherine Cooke earned the win in net, garnering 12 saves on the day.
Wesley returns to the pitch March 31st when they travel to Neumann. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
