Women’s basketball battles Division I Maryland-Eastern Shore

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – The Wesley College women's basketball team took on a Division I opponent, University of Maryland-Eastern Shore on Saturday and dropped a 97-30 decision to the Hawks. 

Stacey O'Neale led the Wolverines with 11 points, knocking down three 3-pointers. Shelby Johnson tallied seven points, seven rebounds, two assists and a steal.

Tiyanna Gibbs picked up five points. Gibbs and Monshea Newsome-Murray collected three rebounds.

Bairesha Gill-Miles paced the Hawks with 18 points.

The Wolverines got off to a fast start against the bigger Hawks, starting off the game with a 7-0 run in the first five minutes off the game and holding a 12-11 lead at the end of the first quarter. 

The Wolverines will have a quick turnaround when they take on the Catholic Cardinals tomorrow. Tip-off from Washington D.C. is set for 2 p.m.
