YORK, Pa. – Three Wesley College softball players were named to the All-Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) teams on Thursday.
Senior catcher Nina Marcano earned All-CAC First Team honors. Marcano led the CAC with 21 stolen bases. Marcano tied for second in the conference in hits (57), third in RBIs (45), fourth in batting average (.452), tied for fifth in homers (6) and sixth in on-base percentage (.490). She was twice named the Fastpitch News National Player of the Week in 2017. Marcano holds Wesley career records in runs scored, hits, runs batted in, triples and stolen bases. She also has single-season records in triples, hits and runs batted in. Marcano was on the All-CAC Second Team in 2016.
Sophomore infielder Ashley Royer and sophomore outfielder Megan DiRubbio were named to the All-CAC Second Team. It is the first time either player have earned postseason accolades from the CAC. Royer placed fourth in runs batted in (40), tied for eighth in home runs (4) and tied for ninth in doubles (10) in the CAC. Royer tallied a .495/.500/.796 batting split in 2017. Royer was named the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Player of the Week on March 1. DiRubbio registered the fifth-highest batting average (.441) and seventh-highest on-base percentage (.485) in the CAC while primarily being used in the lead-off spot or in the nine hole.
It is the second consecutive year that Wesley softball has had three players named to the All-CAC teams.
The Wolverines finished the 2017 season 21-17 overall and 5-9 in the CAC.
