CHESTER, Pa. – The Wesley College men's and women's track and field teams competed in the Chester Quarry Classic on Saturday, hosted by Widener University.
Both the men's and women's teams finished in third place at the meet. Wesley collected six first places and 24 top-five finishes at the meet.
Thomas Kalieta Jr. continued his dominance in the 200- and 400-meter dashes, picking up two wins. He won the 200 with a time of 21.60 seconds and the 400 with a time of 48.43 seconds.
Evelina Sloboh and Rakiya Taylor placed 1-2 in the 100-meter dash. Sloboh clocked in at 12.36 seconds while Taylor finished in 12.44 seconds. Taylor also picked up a fourth-place finish in the 200 (25.73). Sloboh was sixth in the 200 (25.80). Ashley Morris won the 100-meter hurdle with a time of 14.95 seconds.
The men's 4x100- and 4x400-meter relay teams placed second in their events. The 4x100 team of John Heriot, Christian Saulsbury, TySean Cousar and Aaron Gaither recorded a time of 42.65 seconds while the 4x400 team of Javonte' Freeman, Jordan Dillard, Ja'mier Bailey and Jyree Smiley turned in a time of 3:24.07. Heriot also placed third in the 200 meters (22.12). Freeman notched a fourth-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles (15.63).
Myles Toppin had three top-five finishes. Toppin was third in the 110 hurdles (15.12), fourth in the long jump (6.62m, 21-8.75) and fifth in the triple jump (13.29m, 43-7.25). Dominic McAnulty collected fourth in the 400 meters (50.83). Justin Cowgill secured fifth in the javelin with a heave of 47.53 meters (155-11).
Briyanna Woods earned the silver medal in the 400-meter dash with a time of 58.66 seconds.
In the field, Jourdyn Beverly placed second in the hammer with a throw of 43.45 meters (142-7) and third in the shot put with a heave of 11.63 meters (38-2). Lekeshia Brown-Myrick was fifth in the triple jump (10.82m, 35-6) and sixth in the long jump (4.95m, 16-3).
The Wolverines will head back to Widener next Saturday for the Widener Invitational.
