Men's Lacrosse Routs Southern Virginia

DOVER, Del. – Wesley College's men's lacrosse team defeated shorthanded Southern Virginia University, 27-1, on Saturday afternoon at Scott D. Miller Stadium. The Wolverines improve to 4-7 while the Knights fall to 0-9.

Every healthy player entered the game for Wesley and 14 players recorded at least one point on the afternoon.  Joe Donato led all players with eight points on five goals and three assists while Jathan Mahaffey (3g, 2a), John Chenault (4g, 1a) and Lane Kocovsky (2g, 3a) each tallied five points. Mike Rakos and Sam Seibert also notched hat tricks and Justyn Zatwarnytsky recorded two goals and two assists.

Michael McQuarrie and Jack O'Neil dominated on the faceoffs as McQuarrie won all ten of his opportunities while O'Neil was victorious in 10 of 12.  Tyler Reasoner also won 5-of-8 on the day.

Causing 18 turnovers on the afternoon, the Wolverines got four from David Gorski while Kyle Funk, Payton Rose and Zatwarnytsky each forced a pair.

Matt Ryan and Sam Kennedy split halves in goal with Ryan stopping three shots.

The Wolverines, who host Marymount (Va.) on April 17 at 7 pm, scored 27 straight goals before the Knights got on the board with 2:01 left to play.
