Record Offensive Night Earns Wolverines West Coast Victory

NEWBERG, Ore. – The Wesley College Men's Basketball team ramped up the offensive output to put up their highest point total since 2013, earning a 100-91 victory over George Fox University in a non-conference nightcap late Wednesday evening.

JW Lawson netted a career-high 35 points while Evan Anderson added 18, with all of them coming in the second half. Brian Cameron scored a career-high 21 points and added six rebounds while Rasahn Brinkley pitched in with 12 points and nine boards on the evening.

Both teams shot the lights out, combining to go 73-for-132 (55.3%) from the field for the game. Wesley shot 60.0% from the field while shooting 7-for-10 from beyond the arc and 21-for-25 from the charity stripe in the contest.

The Wolverines came out of the locker room ready to play on Wednesday after getting off to a slow start on Tuesday evening. Wesley and George Fox played evenly throughout the first 10 minutes, racing out to a 26-26 tie at a torrid pace. The Bruins pulled away later in the half, leading by as many as 12 points. Layups by George Cook and Rasahn Brinkley cut the lead down to eight, but the Navy and White went into the halftime break trailing 52-41.

As soon as the Wolverines got back on the floor they were cutting into the GFU lead. Wesley began the second half on a 7-0 run to make it 52-48 in the first 2:33. Wesley continued battling throughout the final frame and eventually tied the game at 85-85 on an Evan Anderson three-pointer with 3:59 remaining. All of Anderson's points came in the second half, including 11 in the final four minutes as he led Wolverine charge down the stretch.

After trading buckets, Anderson put Wesley ahead by draining another triple, making it 90-87 with 2:39 to go. A block from Brinkley and a steal from Lawson led the back-to-back transition layups for the Wolverines as they gained a seven-point lead with under two minutes to go. The Navy and White went 6-for-6 from the free throw line in the final minute to ice the game and earn the 100-91 victory.

The Wolverines' offensive output set season-highs in points (100), field goals made (36), field goal percentage (60.0%), three-point percentage (70.0%), and marked the first 100-point output by the Wolverines since Nov. 20, 2013 in a 101-51 beatdown of Albright.

Wesley moves to 5-6 on the season and finishes their road trip with a much-needed win. The squad will return to Dover to face Capital Athletic Conference opponent Christopher Newport University on January 4.
