Remembering Andrew Geyer

Andrew Joseph Geyer Endowed Scholarship | Andrew Geyer Memorial Classic

Wesley College student-athlete Andrew Geyer passed away in February 2009 at the age of 22 when he was struck by a suspected drunk driver while visiting West Virginia University.

Andrew, a Milford, Delaware native and a graduate of Milford High School, was a stand out both in the classroom and on the golf course.  The senior had a 3.93 grade point average in political science and was a member of Phi Sigma Alpha (Political Science Honor Society) and the Alpha Chi Honor Society.  He had posted a 4.0 GPA in all but two semesters and was named to the 2008 ESPN the Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-District team and was a member of the Capital Athletic Conference All-Academic team.

In the spring of 2009, he was posthumously selected to the Division III Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar Team and was awarded his bachelor's degree in political science.

On the golf course, Andrew was named to the All-Capital Athletic Conference First Team in 2008 after finishing fifth at the conference championships.  He also helped the Wolverines finish seventh at the NCAA Division III Championships that spring.

In Andrew's memory, Wesley and the Geyer family set up the Andrew Joseph Geyer Endowed Scholarship and every fall the Wolverine golf team will hold the Andrew Geyer Memorial Classic.
