Wesley Holds 2012-13 Senior Honors Banquet
Sosthene Kapepula of the football team was named the Wesley College Male Athlete of the Year while field hockey/golf's Madison Leone and five-sport athlete Tristin Burris shared Female Athlete of the Year honors, it was announced at the Annual Senior Honors Banquet held at the Outdoor Amphitheater on campus Wednesday night.

Kapepula Honored at MetLife Stadium for ECAC Banquet
Wesley College’s Sosthene Kapepula was honored as the Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III South Defensive Player of the Year on Thursday night in the Lexus Club Room at MetLife Stadium, the home of the NFL’s New York Giants and New York Jets, at the Annual Eastern College Football Awards Banquet.

Safety Jared Morris, offensive lineman Brian Cranmer, defensive end Devin Hardy and linebacker Sosthene Kapepula were all named to the D3football All-American Team, it was announced by the website at Stagg Bowl XL on Friday night.

Wesley College safety Jared Morris, offensive lineman Brian Cranmer, and punt returner Sean Hopkins were all named to the Beyond Sports Network Football All-America Team, the website announced on Wednesday.

Eight Wesley College football players were named to D3football.com All-Region Teams, it was announced by the website on Tuesday afternoon. Offensive lineman Brian Cranmer, as well as defensive end Devin Hardy, linebacker Sosthene Kapepula and safety Jared Morris all received first team recognition.

#5 Football Falls in NCAA Quarterfinals
The fifth-ranked Wesley College football team fell to No. 2 Mary Hardin-Baylor, 32-20, in the NCAA Division III Quarterfinals on Saturday afternoon at Tiger Field. The Crusaders remain unbeaten at 13-0 and will take on No. 1 Mount Union in the NCAA Semifinals on December 8, while the Wolverines’ season comes to an end at 10-2.

Wesley College’s fifth-ranked football team put up 14 points before its offense even saw the field and rolled to a 56-6 victory over #16 Cortland State on Saturday afternoon in the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament at Scott D. Miller Stadium.

Wesley College’s defense allowed just 93 total yards as the fifth-ranked Wolverines ran past the Apprentice School, 47-0, on Saturday afternoon at Scott D. Miller Stadium. The Navy & White did not turn the ball over for the second-straight game as Justin Sottilare completed 14-of-18 passes for 222 yards and three touchdowns to lead the offense.

Heading into its regular season finale against the Apprentice School on Saturday, November 3, the Wesley College football team remains ranked fifth in both the American Football Coaches Association and D3football.com Poll. Both the AFCA and website announced their weekly polls on Monday.

#5 Football Rallies To Beat #16 Huntingdon
The fifth-ranked Wesley College football team scored 21 unanswered points in the second half to defeat No. 16 Huntingdon, 31-21, on Saturday afternoon at Samford Stadium. With the victory, the Wolverines improve to 7-1 on the season, and the win is the 200th in the football program’s Division III history.

Membership in Wesley College's Athletic Hall of Fame expanded from 96 to 110 when 14 newly-elected members were inducted in a ceremony on Friday, October 12 on at the Schwartz Center for the Arts.

#6 Football Wears Down Virginia-Lynchburg
After falling behind 7-0, Wesley College’s sixth-ranked football team scored 24 straight points and went on to beat Virginia University of Lynchburg, 24-7, on Saturday afternoon at Scott D. Miller Stadium.

For the second time this season, safety Jared Morris has been named to the D3football.com Team of the Week, it was announced by the website late Tuesday night. He previously earned the honor on September 4 after picking off a school-record four passes at East Texas Baptist.

An interception by Aamir Petrose remaining sealed a 26-17 victory for Wesley College’s sixth-ranked football team over No. 11 Birmingham-Southern on Saturday afternoon at Scott D. Miller Stadium. The Wolverines, who were playing their fourth-straight ranked opponent, picked off three passes and held the Panthers to just 261 yards of total offense.

The Wolverines will take on their fourth-straight ranked opponent for the first time in school-history in Birmingham Southern on Saturday, October 6, at 1 pm.

Placekicker Dan Tryon has been named the NCAA.com Special Teams Player of the Week, it was announced earlier this week. A senior from Wilmington, Del., Tryon nailed a 31-yard field goal as time expired to lift sixth-ranked Wesley College to a 25-22 victory at #25 Louisiana College on September 22.

Bo Tkach Foundation Presentation at Wesley
A standing-room only crowd of Wesley College students, most of which included student-athletes, packed Wells Theater on Monday night as guest speakers Jim and Sandi Tkach spoke on the issue of suicide and what we can do to prevent it. The program was sponsored by the Delaware Suicide Prevention Coalition and the Mental Health Association in Delaware.

Wesley College’s Luke Maginnis has been named the Defensive Player of the Week by both the Eastern College Athletic Conference and Beyond Sports Network, the organizations announced on Tuesday afternoon. These are the first weekly awards that Maginnis has earned in his career.

Senior Dan Tryon (Wilmington, Del. / Salesianum) kicked a 31-yard field goal as time expired to lift the sixth-ranked Wesley College football team to a 25-22 victory at #25 Louisiana College on Saturday night at Wildcat Stadium.

Wesley’s College’s Sosthene Kapepula has been named the Eastern College Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday afternoon. The 2011 ECAC Defensive Rookie of the Year, this is the first time that the sophomore linebacker has received the weekly honor from the conference.

SALISBURY, Md. - Askia Jahad ran for nearly 100 yards as the third-ranked Wesley College football team defeated No. 6 Salisbury, 17-7, on a rainy Saturday night at Sea Gull Stadium. The Wolverines have now beaten their Route 13 rival eight-straight times.

Behind five touchdown passes from quarterback Justin Sottilare and four interceptions by defensive back Jared Morris, the third-ranked Wesley College football team defeated East Texas Baptist, 34-14, on Saturday afternoon at Ornelas Stadium. Morris' four interceptions is a Wesley-record.

DOVER, Del. – Senior placekicker Dan Tryon is one of 44 players to be named to the Fred Mitchell Award Watch List, it was announced Wednesday morning. The Fred Mitchell Award is awarded to the nation’s top collegiate placekicker among more than 750 FCS, Division II, III, NAIA and NJCAA Football Teams.

LEESBURG, Va. – Sophomore Steven Koudossou was named as a Beyond Sports Network Division III Football Player to Watch, it was announced earlier this month. The wide receiver from Waldorf, Md., was recognized by the website for his big play ability after making the catch and on the run.

DOVER, Del. – The Wesley College football team was ranked third in the USA Today 2012 Division III College Football Preview that hit newsstands earlier this month. Taking the top position in the Preseason Poll is defending national champion Wisconsin-Whitewater with national runner-up Mount Union at two while North Central and Mary Hardin-Baylor round out the top five.

LEESBURG, Va. – Wesley College junior Leon Jones has been named a Second Team Preseason Football All-American by the Beyond Sports Network, it was announced Monday afternoon. Jones was a third team All-America selection by the organization as a sophomore.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Wesley College’s football team was featured in the Division III College Football Preview of Lindy’s Sports Magazine, a Nationally-acclaimed sports magazine that hit newsstands over the weekend. Head Coach Mike Drass was interviewed by Lindy’s’ Dominick DiRienzo on the Wolverines reaching the semifinals five of the last seven years and this year’s team and key players, as well as the status of Division III Football.
