LANCASTER, Pa. – The Wesley College baseball team were slated to finish fourth in the first-ever Atlantic East Conference Preseason Baseball Coaches Poll, which was released by the conference on Thursday.
Wesley picked up 21 points in the poll, a point ahead of the fifth-place Marymount Saints. Gwynedd Mercy was picked to win the conference with 34 points and four first-place votes. Neumann received 28 points and a first-place vote to place second while Cabrini was slated to finish third with 22 points and a first-place vote. Marymount collected 20 points and the remaining first-place vote. Immaculata and Marywood rounded out the poll, picking up 12 and 10 points respectively.
In 2018, Wesley finished 10-23 overall and 4-14 in the Capital Athletic Conference. Entering to their first season in the Atlantic East Conference, Wesley will look to get things rolling under eighth-year head coach Bret Underwood.
After graduating All-American shortstop Chris Seibert, Wesley will lean on several upperclassmen and a mix of youth for the upcoming season.
Wesley will open the season on the road playing three games in Fayetteville, N.C. starting on Friday, Feb. 15 when they take on the Stevenson Mustangs. The opening pitch of the 2019 slate is scheduled for 4 p.m.
